Presbyterian Mutual Society (PMS) Mon 30 August 2010
As you are aware the PMS situation has still not been resolved. It will be two years come this October since the Receiver was called in and we are being urged as Presbyterians to lobby our MPs and MLAs to give the savers back their money.
* *
Joymount Church has £135,471 lodged in PMS. Coral Blair has copied names, addresses and email details of some influential MPs who could help our fight to get our money back. Many of you will be thinking it's not my problem, but it is. As members of Joymount Church this money is yours, so please pick up a sheet and take action by writing or emailing the people on the list, asking them to help solve the problems so we can get out money back.

Moderator's Pakistan Appeal Fri 24 September 2010
The Moderator has sent out a letter to appeal for donations to help the people of Pakistan. The folowing are extracts from that letter. The situation in Pakistan caused by phenominal monsoon rainfall has become increasingly worse as the resulting waters have worked their way down the country. They have been left marooned in the midst of the swirling waters, without the necessities of life and prey to disease.

Mr. Swan Kan captures something of the experience of ordinary people when he shares, 'My wheat and cotton crops have been washed away, my house has collapsed and everything I ever owned has been taken by the flood.' On the 9th August 14 million people have been affected by the floods. The number is rising. Media sources suggest that the impact of this disaster is as bad as that of the Asian tsunami, plus the Kashmir and Haiti earthquakes. Your contributions will primarily be channelled through our partners in Tear Fund and Christian Aid. A portion of your contribution will also be donated to the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, a partner of PCI through the Board of Mission Overseas. We have sent a preliminary £50,000 to Tearfund and Christian Aid and the Presbyterian Church in Pakistan.

Message From the Ambulance Service ICE (In Case of Emergency) Tue 28 September 2010
The concept of ICE is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during an emergancy under the name 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) in your mobile phone.
* *
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE' in your mobile phone. If you want to include more than one contact person store them as ICE 1, ICE 2 and ICE 3 etc.
