Requirements
The Minister will want to see both prospective
bride and groom. Usually arranged during Minister's
hour on Wednesday evenings (6:30-7:30pm Wednesdays - see
current weekly News for details). To make an arrangement, contact minister@joymount.org. Two Marriage classes
are held each year, these are very informal and
are designed to help couples prepare for marriage.
The Minister recommends couples to attend the Presbytery
Marriage Course which runs for 6 nights, once per
week each Feb/March.
Kirk Session expects couples to attend Church
regularly. According to civil law either the bride
or groom must be a member of the church and/or contribute
to the church.
A wedding rehearsal shall be arranged near the date
of the wedding. Along with the bride and groom it
would be helpful if the bridesmaid(s), best man,
groomsman, bride's father could attend.
Weddings in the Presbyterian Church are normally
by license. The Minister will advise accordingly.
Orders of Service( if such are planned) should be
discussed with the Minister before any printing
is undertaken |
